From today until August if you get the chance to visit London, you have the opportunity to check out the nominees for the International Design Awards, one of if not the most prestigious design award in the world today.

Held at the National Design Museum, with the awards ceremony itself taking place in March, the awards gives us a chance to see a glimpse of the future by appreciating the best achievements in design over the last year over 7 categories: Architecture, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Interactive, Product and Transport, all of which allow design to have a positive effect on our day to day lives.

The awards show a great depth of variety as last year’s winner proved. Min Kui Choi was an unknown South Korean designer who had graduated from The Royal College of Art in 2009, but his elegant folding plug took first prize last year, proving that innovation is possible without massive funding.
